Decipher Group recently appointed Tony Liu as the new Property Divestment Manager for Ōtākaro Limited.
Tony is an experienced property consultant who has spent almost a decade working for civic and social organisations in New Zealand. He is a specialist in land and property acquisition, disposal and divestment, and has an intimate knowledge of Council Bylaws, the Local Government Act, Resource Management Act, Reserves Act and Public Works Act.
Most recently Tony was employed as a Property Consultant for the Christchurch City Council. He also committed more than three years to Brazier Property Investments in Christchurch, working in the Property Management Division as Property Manager before taking on the role of Second in Charge.
In this new role, Tony will be responsible for the divestment of surplus land and property assets owned by Ōtākaro in accordance with its land divestment strategy. He will provide expert property advice and strategic input to the senior management team, covering all aspects of the acquisition and divestment cycle. Tony will also be required to develop strong relationships with developers, owners, landlords, investors, agents and industry bodies, regeneration agencies and regulatory authorities.
Strong negotiation skills and knowledge of New Zealand’s commercial real estate market were critical requirements for the role.
Tony holds a Bachelor of Commerce (majoring in valuation and property management) from Lincoln University. He is also a member of the Property Institute of New Zealand and Property Council New Zealand.
Tony joined Ōtākaro in October 2017.
