To support this exciting growth, Hamilton Jet is looking for a new Cost and Management Accountant who is ready and willing to contribute a strong set of accounting skills to the Christchurch Head Office based Finance Team

About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Cost and Management Accountant takes overall accountability for providing management, cost accounting, fixed asset accounting, and reporting to ensure financial transparency and provide valuable financial information to decision makers. In doing this, the Cost and Management Accountant will: 

  • Manage the accuracy of product and inventory costings to ensure competitive sales pricing;
  • Analyse and report on margins
  • Work with the Operations Manager to understand material variances and help develop more robust inventory management processes and practices
  • Maintain and develop fixed asset reporting and depreciation schedules
  • Develop reporting for the Manufacturing operational teams to support manufacturing objectives.
  • Provide analysis on current cost setup within the manufacturing system and identify improvements
  • Support the Financial Controller with monthly and ad hoc management and performance reporting
  • Support the implementation of a new ERP system.

This role needs an independently driven accountant who can provide end-to-end manufacturing-based cost accounting to ensure the smooth functioning of critical business processes.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will be process-oriented, driven and self-motivated. You may be looking for your first role post Accounting Practice, you may have audit experience, but you will ideally be a Chartered Accountant with exposure to either cost accounting, systems accounting and/or management accounting in a commercial environment or within private practice.

Confident and willing to roll your sleeves up; you will enjoy working with your team and your internal customers; providing valuable information, reporting and analysis to support decision making.
